"FCC OKs Media Consolidation" or "Corporations Get Gov Handjob Again"

In yet another move to make the ownership of our hearts and minds easier, the FCC has approved the plan to allow media groups to own a television or radio station as well as a newspaper in any of the 2o largest metropolitan areas of the country.

I'm sorry, but corporations have proved over and over again that they cannot police themselves and should not be allowed the leeway to do so. The Republican mantra calling for a deregulated marketplace has left us with the worst economy in the developed world, the most corporate controlled media in the free world and the most corrupt governmental process this side of Russia. When you have corporate media heads the likes of Rupert Murdoch and his "fair and balanced" propaganda machine and you give them more power, you are on the brink of unleashing Big Brother (as if he's not here already).

FCC chief defends media ownership plan

WASHINGTON - The Republican chairman of the Federal Communications Commission is disputing Democratic assertions that a new rule loosening restrictions on media ownership is full of loopholes and will lead to a wave of mergers and fewer choices for consumers.

Democratic Commissioner Michael Copps described the commission's decision approving the measure as "one that would make George Orwell proud," referring to the English author best known for his novels critiquing totalitarianism and for popularizing the phrase "Big Brother is watching you."

Ah W, What a Lying Pile of Monkey Poo You are

You know what? I'm tired of hearing the same old lies being spun over and over again. By our own CEO, I mean president, no less:

"Let me first talk about how to make sure America is secure from a group of killers, people who hate -- you know what they hate? They hate the idea that somebody can go buy a home. They hate freedom; that's what they hate. They hate the fact that we worship freely. They don't like the thought of Christian, Jew and Muslim living side by side in peace. They don't like that at all. And therefore, they -- since they resent our freedoms, they feel like they should take out their resentment by destroying innocent lives. And this country will do everything we can possibly do to protect America."

The Muslims couldn't give a rat's anus whether we are free or not. They care that we're free to screw with them. They care that we're free to come over there and tell them what to do. They care that we're free to push our own agenda and force regime change down whoever's throat we deem necessary today.

"See, I tell people -- and I believe this -- that out of the evil done to America will come some incredible good. (Applause.) You know, they thought they were attacking a country so weak and so feeble that we might file a lawsuit or two, and that's all we'd do. (Laughter.) That's what they thought. We're showing them the different face of America. We're showing them that we're plenty tough. When it comes to taking somebody trying to take away our freedoms, we're tough, and we're going to remain tough and steadfast. (Applause.)"

That's why we invaded Iraq, mhmm. I want you yung'uns to know that we invaded Iraq because a Jordanian in Afghanistan got some other people who weren't Iraqi to fly planes into our buildings. And that's how we got this here massive deficit so yer mommy and daddy can't afford to buy a house no more.

"I just want you to know that, when we talk about war, we're really talking about peace."

I think that about sums it all up.

Ann Coulter is Tactfull

Just when you thought she couldn't be any more sweet than she already is, she says something even more adorable.

Because Ann Coulter sucks

While appearing on my favorite tool's MSNBC show, the queen of the dark side actually quoted the National Enquirer when trying to smear John Edwards. I mean, when I'm looking for verifiable journalistic integrity I turn to the National Enquirer. I've got an inquiring mind, dammit!

Seriously, is it just me? I know Dems see this stuff a mile away, but do other Cons hear this stuff and believe it? Do they think it's legitimate to attack a person's personal and moral lives rather than go after their political views or records? I guess it works for them. Cons still talk about Monica but poo poo you when you point out the Clinton surplus versus the Bush DEFICIT. Even today, Bush tried to claim that the deficit being something like 8 BILLION dollars less than projected was proof that his economy was robust and 'working'. Praised his tax cuts even.

Ah, Orlando. The City Beautiful

This is how they intend to keep it beautiful I guess.

They passed a law making it illegal to feed homeless people.

Cuz People Suck

I suppose the idea is; if you feed the homeless, they'll congregate there. Or; out of sight, out of mind?

Either way, it's pretty heartless for the town the Mouse built. Wait. That's redundant. Now you know why I don't miss it much.

Anyway, the law has been tested for the first time. A 22 year old was arrested and tried for feeding the homeless in beautiful Lake Eola. Been there a hundred times. Disney holds events there. The homeless hang there. Always have, always will. Stopping the aid this man and others give them won't change that. It's downtown. The only thing that will stop homeless people from finding it an attractive place to squat is to remove all dumpsters and don't let people work, eat or drive there.
